It all started in 1958, when the wealthy businessman and ecologist Daniel R. Aguinaldo visited the serene and exotic Samal island. The place started as an air-lifter of 12,000 oysters cultivated for their pink, white, and gold pearls. Then, in the 1980’s, Don Antonio Floirendo bought the land, hoping to make a haven of recreation for him and his family over the weekends. Later on, the Floirendos realized the potential of the place and decided to carry on the astounding work started by the Aguinaldos, hence named it ‘Pearl Farm Beach Resort’ to serve as a reminder of its former glory as a home to oysters that depend on clean environment for survival.

The architecture of the Resort is a tribute to tribal living as Bobby Mañosa, the world-renowned architect who designed Pearl Farm Beach Resort, conceptualized Pearl Farm as a camouflage of beauty of the island- so he adapted the curve of the coastlines to blend with the natural setting, used the indigenous materials with earth tones to sound with the island’s lush greenery. Every nook and corner of the resort is a manifestation of how proud the Davaoeños are of their tribes and cultures.

The entire resort, from the architecture to the service, sums up to what Mindanao has to offer. The advocacy of the resort is to make the guests feel like they are in Mindanao and nowhere else. Thus, Pearl Farm Beach Resort prides itself in the history and natural beauty of the place- truly weaving authentic experiences for their now precious pearls- their valuable guests.
